As our staff at HR Works has been talking with each of our clients, we have heard so many inspiring stories about how others are supporting their communities during these uncertain times.
One of our clients in particular, Marshall Farms Group, Ltd., wanted to find a way to make a difference, despite the fact that they don’t know how to manufacture N95 masks or other PPE.
In addition to supporting local food cupboards, Marshall Farms helped a local Girl Scout Troop by purchasing 500 boxes of their unsold cookies. The cookies were then donated to the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital and DeMay Living Center as a way to show appreciation for the dedicated caregivers on the front lines.
Scott Marshall, President of Marshall Farms, said that he hopes this story will inspire others and spark new ideas for helping our surrounding communities. We couldn’t agree more!
Another client, the Farash Foundation, has created a fun way to keep morale boosted and employees engaged and feeling connected during this time of remote work, while also supporting local businesses. Executive Director, Hollis Budd, implemented “Farash Fun Fridays” which involves employees receiving a surprise package delivered to their home each Friday. During a virtual team meeting, held on Fridays between 3-4 pm, everyone opens their package together, reads a special, witty message and enjoys a food-themed surprise. These have included cookie decorating, a tea party and an ice cream social to name a few. Through this activity, the Foundation is supporting local businesses, with the purchase and delivery of treats to employees, and providing a little fun and socialization for staff.
