DHS Begins Revoking Certain Employment Authorization Documents (EADs): Important Compliance Obligations for Employers Using E-Verify

On June 20, 2025, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced that it has begun revoking Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) for certain non-citizens whose parole has been terminated. This action may impact current employees, particularly those paroled under the Processes for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans (CHNV).

Case status alerts will no longer be used to notify employers of EAD revocations related to parole termination or other humanitarian protection programs. Instead, employers should regularly generate the Status Change Report in E-Verify to identify impacted cases that were created using an EAD that has since been revoked.

Impact on Employers

  • DHS has notified impacted individuals directly, informing them of their parole termination and the corresponding revocation of their EADs.
  • The new Status Change Report replaces Case Status Alerts for EAD revocations.
  • This report includes the revocation date, case number, and A-Number for each affected E-Verify case.
  • The report is updated regularly as additional EADs are revoked.

Next Steps for Employers

To ensure compliance with Form I-9 and E-Verify requirements, employers enrolled in E-Verify should take the following actions:

  • Log in to E-Verify regularly to generate the Status Change Report.
  • Use Form I-9, Supplement B, to immediately begin reverifying each current employee whose EAD the Status Change Report indicated was revoked and complete all reverifications within a reasonable amount of time.
  • Do not create a new E-Verify case.

EADs identified as revoked in the Status Change Report are no longer valid for work authorization purposes. Employers must act promptly to verify ongoing authorization for any affected employee. For additional information, visit the EAD Revocation Guidance for E-Verify Employers on the USCIS website.
