DOL Releases Updated Model CHIP Notice

An updated model Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) notice has been released by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL). The CHIP notice informs employees of their eligibility for health insurance premium assistance.

Employers that provide health insurance coverage in states with premium assistance through Medicaid or CHIP must provide employees with the CHIP notice annually before the start of each plan year.

The revised model notice contains information on how employees can apply for premium assistance as well as state-specific contact information. The information is current as of August 10, 2017.

HR Works Virtual HR Helpline clients should contact the helpline at (585) 381-8340 x 1 if they have any questions regarding the CHIP notice.
