Louisiana Pregnancy Rights of Employees Notice Poster

As we previously reported, effective August 1, 2021 the Louisiana Employment Discrimination Law (LEDL) was amended to broaden reasonable accommodation requirements for pregnancy, childbirth and related medical conditions unless it would pose an undue hardship on the employer. The law applies to employers with 26 or more employees.

Consistent with this amendment, the Louisiana Workforce Commission has released an updated Pregnancy Rights of Employees Notice Poster. The notice must be posted in a prominent location which is accessible to employees. In addition to posting requirements, an employer must also provide the notice to new hires and all existing employees.

Next Steps for Employers

Employers may download the applicable poster directly from the Louisiana Workforce Commission’s website and should ensure that is promptly posted in the workplace and that a copy of the notice is also provided to new hires and all existing employees.

Those individuals who are responsible for new hire onboarding and managers/supervisor should also be trained on the requirements of the law. It is also recommended that this notice be included on any onboarding checklist used by the business.
