By July 1, 2024, the Nevada minimum wage will increase to $12 per hour for all employees, regardless of whether their employer provides benefits. Additionally, the state will no longer perform annual inflation adjustments to the minimum wage and the legislature can pass laws that create a higher minimum wage than that established by the amendment. These changes are a result of Nevada voters approving a minimum wage amendment to the state’s constitution on November 8, 2022.
Next Steps for Employers
Employers should prepare to adjust their payroll practices and procedures to ensure compliance with the updated minimum wage by the effective date. Once made available, employers will also need to post an updated minimum wage bulletin in a prominent location where it may be easily seen by employees.
