New Mexico Human Rights Act Amended 

Effective May 16, 2024, the New Mexico Human Rights Act is amended to prohibit discrimination based on military status. 

Employers should update their employee handbooks including their equal employment and non-discrimination/non-harassment policies, and any related training materials to include this additional protected class. In addition, hiring managers and recruiters should be aware of these requirements and be properly trained on any updated recruiting practices and employment documents.
