New York Minimum Wage Increase Effective Dec. 31

The state has released the updated minimum wage rates which will go into effect on December 31, 2021 as follows:

  • NYC (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens and Staten Island) will remain at $15/hour
  • Long Island (Nassau and Suffolk Counties) and Westchester County – $15/hour
  • Remainder of the state – $13.20/hour

Minimum wage rates also differ based on industry such as fast-food workers. Rates will increase each year until they reach $15.00 per hour (and $10 tipped wage). Additional information on the state’s minimum wage is availble from the New York Department of Labor.
