Oregon Regulates Use of Driver Licenses for Employment Purposes

Effective January 1, 2022, Oregon law restricts the reasons for which employers may require an employee or prospective employee to possess or present a driver’s license. Under the law, it is an unlawful employment practice for an employer to require an applicant or current employee to possess or present a valid driver’s license unless the ability to legally drive is an essential function of the job or is related to a legitimate business purpose.
