As we previously reported, effective July 14, 2022, the New York Department of Labor (DOL) will establish a toll-free confidential hotline for individuals with complaints of workplace sexual harassment. The hotline will be operated during regular business hours and will be operated by attorneys who will provide free assistance and counsel to individuals that contact the hotline.
Next Steps for Employers
The NY DOL will be providing information on the hotline and updates to any materials that employers are required to post or provide to employees about sexual harassment. Once the updated materials are made available, it is likely that employers will need to update their non-harassment and/or sexual harassment policies to ensure that it includes reference to this hotline.
