Updated California Paid Family Leave Pamphlet

The California Employment Development Department (EDD) has released a mandatory update to the Paid Family Leave pamphlet, effective immediately. The updated version includes a new main contact phone number and menu options for multilingual support.

Because the update affects how employees contact the EDD to access benefits or file claims, employers must begin using the revised pamphlet right away.

Employer Requirements

California employers must provide the current version of the Paid Family Leave pamphlet at hire and when an employee requests leave that may qualify under Paid Family Leave.

Outdated versions should be removed from all onboarding and leave-related materials.

Next Steps for Employers

Employers should download the updated pamphlet from the EDD website and begin distributing it immediately, as required by state law. Human resource teams should ensure the revised pamphlet is incorporated into all relevant onboarding and leave documentation.
