USCIS Releases a Video for Compliance with Remote Documentation Verification

The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) released a concise two-minute video aimed to provide employers with a high-level understanding of the Remote Document Examination process and how it operates.

Employers who actively participate in the E-Verify program and maintain good standing are eligible to remotely examine their employees’ documentation using a video inspection process authorized by the Department of Homeland Security.

To initiate the video inspection, the employee is required to send a copy of the document(s) to the employer. Subsequently, during the live video interaction, the employee must physically present the original document(s) for verification.

Next Steps

Employers who are E-Verify participants and employ alternative verification procedures are strongly encouraged to watch the instructional video provided by the USCIS. This will help ensure that their remote documentation examination process complies with the relevant regulations and requirements.
